Ukrainian motherland  of the Indo-Europeans.

The author claims to have found the ultimate solution of the Indo-European nations’ ancestry problem. This Indo-European motherland is identified with the Seredny-Stog culture. Here, between the Desna, the Ingool, the Ross and the Seversky Doniets rivers, Indo-European people lived whose descendants later formed German, Slavic, Iranian, Roman, Hindu, Greek, Armenian and other nations.

The main arguments in favor of this concept:

1. The argument of toponymy. Precisely on this territory of Seredny-Stog culture the most amount of words ancient Indo-European hydronyms that have its origin in Common Indo-European language. The book dwells on etymology of around a hundred hydronyms of the Left-Bank Ukraine. Among those are: the Voshiva (the Kind (good) river), the Tanyskava (the Dry river), the Bakhmut (the Beech river), the Oskol (the Ash river), the Kovrai ad Kovsoog (the Ox river), the Tor (the Oak river), the Ogooltsy (the Snake river), the Urvikhvist (Sheep’s waters), etc. In fact, it has already been recognized that Indo-European hydronyms are abundant in this part of Ukraine. At the same time there is no more supposed “Indo-European origins” has as ancient Indo-European hydronymy.

2. The argument of lexical reconstruction. The terms of flora, fauna, geographical environment, climate, economy, social life are reconstructed in Indo-European language, that in total correspond on the Seredny-Stog culture territory. In particular, it is shown that Indo-European lexis reflects the climate, landscape realia, as well as flora and fauna typical of Eastern Ukraine in the epoch of climatic optimum. At the same time, the more eastern regions of Volga basin are surely excluded from the territory of supposed Indo-European origin (“Beech Argument” etc.). The so-called “mountainous landscape” argument is refuted.

3. The argument of archeological retrospective. The Seredny-Stog culture is the most ancient archeological culture and no one ever had doubts about its Indo-European ethnic character. For all archeological cultures that were founded later and proved to have Indo-European ethnic character is also possible to prove their genetical continuity to Seredny-Stog culture.

4. Argument of qualitative leap. Indo-European peoples played unique role in world history, while they made the 2 greatest inventions of Seredny-Stog culture: invention of the wheel and the taming of the horse. It brought to rapid qualitative changes of the whole culture and their lifestyle. It also was a stimulus for at least 2 not related tribes to become the unified whole. So all tribes and archeological cultures that were before Seredny-Stog culture were qualitatively different. It means that there can’t be more ancient actually Indo-European culture but Seredny-Stog culture. We can say only about “proto Indo-European” cultures – the origins of Seredny-Stog culture, moreover there were at least 2 different and not related cultures. The book shows hybrid origin of Seredny-Stog archaeological culture, which originated from the union between tribes of the Sura and the Dnieper-Doniets archaeological cultures.

In Indo-Iranian, Slavic and Ancient Greece mythological traditions, in Scandinavian and Irish sagas were saved the evidences that Ukraine is the most ancient origin of Indo-European peoples.

The book also analyses Indo-European society. Indo-European women’s and poet’s high social position is highlighted. The evidence for ancient Indo-European written literature, which was in particular used for sacral and divination purposes, is provided. The ancient written artifacts found in Kam’yana Mogyla and Yamna culture (an ancient Barrow civilization) are analyzed. The hypothesis of the phonetic form of writing is discussed alongside with its relation to the Celtic ogham characters.

Since, due to the wheel and the horse, Indo-Europeans had a huge technical advantage over other tribes, they spread throughout Eurasian steppes, over the Central Europe and the Balkan Peninsula, destroying the civilizations of Trypolie and neighboring ones. At the same time they settled in Iran and the Near East, forming the authorities of a number of Sumer cities. In particular, the wheel was borrowed by Sumer from ancient Ukraine, as well as the supreme deities Anah and En-lil.

Kharkiv region was once part of Seredny-Stog archaeological culture (ancient civilization). The word Kharkiv derives from the ancient Indo-European “Hark”, which means “silver”. In other words, Kharkiv means The Silver River. It should me mentioned that the form Harkeu/Harkou is the most ancient, primary one, stemming from the epoch of Indo-European community (the turn of the 5th millennium A. D.). Silver was a symbol of belonging to the priests’ estate. After the river Kharkiv the city was named. An ancient Kharkiv site was discovered where the city lies at present. The city of Kharkah was mentioned by an Arabian chronicler Ibn Fadlan in the 10th century B. C. It is possible that the ancient city had been destroyed by the Pecheneg tribes. Later on its exiles built the new city of Pereyaslav.

In addition to the basic text the hypothesis of origin of all Nostratian tribes was substantiated. It was Mesolithic culture Cuchrech [Kukrek] to the south of Ukraine.

Generally, the book finds out the key role of Ancient Ukraine in world history.
